Pokemon TCG Pitch Black Officially Revealed: Stellar AIO Set to Clear When It Drops

Pitch Black is officially revealed, and if the Pokemon Center drops for previous Mega Evolution sets taught you anything, this one is going to move fast. What Is Pitch Black?

Pitch Black is the fifth main English set in the Mega Evolution series and releases July 17, 2026. It is a near 1:1 translation of Japan’s Abyss Eye set (May 22, 2026), centered entirely around dark-type Mega Evolution Pokemon. The set is named after Darkrai’s official classification as the “Pitch-Black Pokemon,” and the whole thing leans into that dark energy hard.

The set has 84 base-numbered cards plus 35 special illustration variants, putting the total around 119 cards. Smaller, tighter sets historically make sealed product more desirable, and this one has a stacked pull sheet to back it up.

Six Mega Evolution ex cards headline the set: Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, and Mega Excadrill ex lead the pack. Beyond those, there are 4 more Pokemon ex, 11 Illustration Rares, 18 Ultra Rares, and 6 Special Illustration Rares. For a smaller set, that is a dense pull rate on the high-end cards. The Zarude Illustration Rare ETB promo alone is going to push demand for the box.
